Superintendent Comments on Graduation Rate

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey said that the school system is taking a look at graduation rate figures released last week by the state.

“We want to make sure we are doing the right things,” said Dorsey. “We do believe there might have been a few mistakes between what we have uploaded and what we have seen that came down in the report. Not trying to put off on that. I think you see a great concern from our High School administration and staff. Certainly going to be looking into getting every child (to graduate) and 100 percent graduation.”

According to state figures, Stephens County High School had a graduation rate of 85.3 percent in 2014.

That is down from the 2013 graduation rate of 90.8 percent released last year by the state.

The state graduation rate average for 2014 is 72.5 percent.
