Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Make Arrests

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office makes arrests last week with charges of theft by taking and aggravated assault.

Wednesday April 22nd, Deputies with Stephens County Sheriff’s office responded to a residence on Tower Road in Martin in reference to a theft of a Zero Turn mower, valued at $3000.00.  During the investigation Deputies located the mower at residence on Webb Rd approximately 1 mile away. After conducting interviews at this residence, Deputies arrested Timothy Wirth age 30 of Martin. He was charged with one count of Felony Theft by taking. Deputies returned the mower to the owner shortly after the arrest.

Thursday, April 23rd, Deputies with Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Defoor Road in reference to shots being fired. Upon arrival Deputies made contact with a male who was identified as Theodore Swilling. Swilling had in his possession at the time a loaded .22 cal revolver.  Deputies immediately secured the weapon and began conducting interviews. A female on scene stated that Swilling fired one round from the firearm in her direction in what she believed was an attempt to intimidate her.  Deputies did locate a bullet hole in the living room of the residence, supporting the statements of the female. Ultimately Theodore Swilling age 64 of Defoor Road, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon.
