Stephens Co. Commission To Meet Today

Stephens County Commissioners will hold their only regularly scheduled meeting for December later today.

The county commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.

County commissioners will start with a public hearing to deal with a number of planning and zoning requests forwarded after consideration from the Planning Board.

Following the planning and zoning public hearing, county commissioners will hold a work session to discuss other items on the business meeting agenda.

Items on the agenda, other than the planning and zoning requests, include consideration of a temporary moratorium on acceptance of roads into the county road maintenance system until June 30, 2015, consideration of a 60-day moratorium on wireless communication facilities, consideration of an emergency door to door peddlers and solicitors ordinance, consideration of a motion to enter into an agreement with the Georgia Department of Corrections Community Service Agency, and consideration of a motion to authorize a letter of support for a grant application for water and sewer improvements on the Toccoa By-pass.

Immediately following the work session to discuss the agenda, county commissioners will vote on agenda items during their business meeting.

Today’s Stephens County Commission meeting also allows time for public comment.
