South Carolina Man Arrested For Thefts In Stephens County

A South Carolina man was arrested by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Department earlier this month in relation to burglary and theft by taking on three different occasions in Stephens County.

On March 27th, Deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Jordan Road in, reference to a Burglary that had already occurred. The victim stated the door had been kicked in and that several items had been taken from the residence. Items listed as stolen include a generator, and a large toolbox full of tools. A suspect was later positively identified by an eyewitness as 26-year-old Kevin Daniel Kelly of Walhalla, SC. Arrest warrants were issued for Kelly charging him with Burglary.

On April 4th, Deputies with Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Brandonberry Drive in reference to a Theft that had already occurred. The victim stated that several items had been taken from the residence; these items include a large safe and its contents, several articles of jewelry, and electronic devices. The suspect in this case was again identified as Kelly. This was done using phone calls made to the victim prior to the theft. Arrest warrants were issued for Kelly for Theft by Taking.

 

The next day April 5th, Deputies with Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Regan Drive in reference to a vehicle theft that had occurred the previous night. The victim stated that the suspect was Kelly.  According to the victim, Kelly had taken the vehicle and then when asked refused to return it. The vehicle was recovered at a gas station located in Lavonia. Later this same date deputies located Kelley at a residence on Oak Valley Road. He was arrested and charged with Theft by Taking (Motor Vehicle) as well as on the two outstanding warrants. He is currently being held at the Stephens County Jail. His bond is set in the amount of $22,000.00.
