SCSO Arrests Man on Weapons, Drug Charges

A Toccoa man faces a host of firearm and drug charges after deputies responded to a Stephens County residence last week.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that deputies with his office responded to a residence off Pinetree Road on August 27 in reference to a reported physical domestic dispute.

“Once deputies arrived on scene, they observed a male later identified as Emilio Jerome Flentall, age 24 of Toccoa, fleeing from the scene,” said Shirley. “Deputies gave chase and apprehended Flentall on Defoor Road. After he was arrested, they recovered a fully loaded, semi-automatic handgun from his pants pocket as well as two bags of cocaine and digital scales.”

Shirley said Flentall was charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Obstruction.

Also, the sheriff said that Flentall was also held on outstanding warrants including five counts of Violation of Probation, Child Support Obligations, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Shirley said that his office continues to investigate and adds more charges could be forthcoming from Flentall.

“Due to Flentall’s violent criminal past, we are seeking the assistance of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms out of Atlanta,” said Shirley. “They have indicated they are interested in opening a federal investigation.”

Flentall is currently being held in the Stephens County Jail with no bond.
