SCSO Arrests Four For Theft

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office makes four arrests in connection to a theft this week at a local textile business.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley says that 61-year-old William Marvin Pruitt of Valley Road in Toccoa and 31-year-old Adam Kyle Drinkwater of Valley Road in Toccoa entered the property of the textile company at around 3 a.m. on Monday.

Shirley said Drinkwater is a former employee at the business and had prior knowledge of the “scrap bins.”

“They went to a specific location at the business and started loading the scrap metal on the truck,” said Shirley. “It was a pretty large amount of scrap metal.”

The sheriff said deputies were called to the scene later on Monday morning.

“As the investigation started, it led them to a local scrap yard,” said Shirley, who added that the scrap yard had identification on the suspects.

Shirley said all of the stolen metal was recovered.

Pruitt and Drinkwater were charged with Theft by Taking and at last report are both at the Stephens County Jail awaiting bond.

Authorities also arrested 18-year-old Mary Talor Pruitt and 29-year-old Andrew Landrum Waddell, both of Valley Road in Toccoa, in connection with the case and charged them with Theft by Receiving.

At last report, they were both in the Stephens County Jail awaiting bond.

Also, Shirley says both had holds through Stephens County Probation.
