SCHS Hoops Split With Hart

The Stephens County Lady Indians beat Hart County for the third time this year.

Saturday night at home, Stephens County outscored the Lady Bulldogs 20-13 in the fourth quarter to pull away and win 52-44.

The Lady Indians previously beat Hart in a non-region game on the road last month and also in the second round of last month’s Christmas tournament at Hart County.

Kentasia Trimier had 16 points to pace three Lady Indians in double figures. Mya Cleveland added 15 points and Lexie Cash scored 10 for Stephens County.

The Lady Indians are now 7-8 on the season.

Moving to the boys’ game, Stephens County and Hart County were tied at 40 entering the fourth quarter, but Hart County won the fourth quarter and the game, beating the Indians 61-55.

The Indians fell behind early, but fought back with a 16-2 run to make it a tight game entering the fourth quarter.

Tay Jones scored 21 to lead the Indians and DeAndre Singleton scored 12.

Wrafi Rucker led Hart County with 30 points.

The loss drops the Indians to 5-10 overall on the season.

Stephens County returns to action on Friday when the Lady Indians and Indians host Chestatee in the Region 8-AAAA opener for Stephens County.

The girls’ game will tip-off at 7 p.m. Friday in Toccoa, with the boys’ game to follow.
