SCHS Baseball Splits Series With Madison Co.

Pinch runner Chaz Bridges scored from third base on a third strike passed ball to give the Stephens County Indians a 5-4 win over Madison County Friday night in Danielsville in Region 8-AAAA baseball action.

Stephens County had jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Madison County scored in both the bottom of the second and third innings to tie the game.

The Indians re-took the lead in the top of the fourth.

However, Madison County answered to tie the game in the bottom of the half of the fourth, then took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Trailing by one in the top of the seventh, Davis McCall singled to lead off the inning and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch.

Then, Madison County intentionally walked Ben Cleveland for the third time in the game.

Cleveland was able to move around to third base and Bridges came into run, scoring on the passed ball.

Stephens County then retired the Red Raiders in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.

McCall got the win in relief of starter Houston Mullinax for the Indians, coming into the game in the fourth inning and closing it out.

Trent Azevedo took the loss in relief for Madison County.

With the win, the Indians move to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in region play.

Meanwhile, Madison County drops to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the region.

The Indians return to Region 8-AAAA play tonight in Oakwood against Johnson High School.
