Sandlot Tournament Update, Junior Baseball AllStars Announced

In Region 7 Sectional tournament action last night, The Toccoa Sandlot Softball AllStars notched a 14-3 win over Rabun and will face Oconee County in the Championship Game this evening. The game will be held at 6 p.m. at Whitworth Park in Lavonia. This time is a change from the original schedule.

A Toccoa win over the powerful Oconee team will force a second, winner-takes-all game at 8 p.m., while an Oconee win in the 6 p.m. game will earn Oconee the Sectional Championship banner. 

In Sandlot Baseball last night, Martinez-Evans Sandlot All Stars secured a win over Toccoa, ending Toccoa’s five-game winning streak. The two teams will  face each other again tonight at 7 p.m. in Lavonia, with the winner advancing to the State Tournament in Warner Robins next week.

Also, the 2024 Toccoa Little League Homerun Derby that was scheduled for this evening will be postponed due to the games in Lavonia tonight. A new schedule for the Homerun Derby will be decided on after the conclusion of the Sectionals Tournament. WNEG News will provide updates as soon as they become available. 

Also, Toccoa Junior Baseball AllStars have been named, including Konner Brown, Zach Brown, Thompson Bullard, Keagan Crunkleton, Jasper Davenport, Dylan Elrod, Caden Hamilton, Micah Hull, Ryan King, Matthew Prickett, Eli Stonecypher, Seth Stonecypher, Harley Thomas and Landry Williams. Team manager is Ben Dunson and coaches are Josh Davenport and Matt King. 

There will be a mandatory Junior Baseball AllStars parent’s meeting this evening, June 7, at 6 p.m at the Little League Hut at the Doyle Street Fields.
