The city of Royston has agreed to take possession of the old Ty Cobb Medical Center building.

Royston City Council members had a called meeting Tuesday morning and in that meeting went immediately into executive session to discuss the particulars of the arrangement.

After the executive session, the commissioners went into a general session so that a motion could be made and voted on.

According to Royston Mayor David Jordan, the motion includes having a committee to negotiate the final terms of the transaction and then authorize Jordan to sign the executing documents.

Mayor Jordan said the closing should be within the next two weeks.

He also said at this time no decision as been made as to what to do with this building.

The old Ty Cobb Medical Center building in Royston has been sitting basically empty since the new hospital building was built near Lavonia.
