NGTC Students Build Bridges Made of Pasta For Final Project

Engineering technology students at North Georgia Technical College wrapped up their semester with an unusual project.

For their end-of-semester project, the students had to design and create a bridge made of spaghetti,

Divided into four teams, each group had to present not only the completed bridge, but the project charter and design specifications as well.

The bridge had to meet certain criteria, such as spanning a one-foot gap and allowing a toy car to pass all the way through, all the while using just glue and a one-pound box of dry spaghetti.

Each spaghetti bridge was then tested to see how much weight it could hold.

The winning bridge withstood 11.46 pounds without showing any sign of weakness.

Two Clarkesville students, Matthew Thornton and Evan Davis, were among the members of the winning team.
