Earlier this year, local chefs Alexander and Christopher Bladowski, both culinary arts instructors at North Georgia Technical College, each earned the Presidential Award for their dedication to education in Georgia and outstanding service to the chapter.

The award was presented during the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Atlanta Chefs Association’s (ACA) Presidential Gala held at Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta.

At the event, Diane Rucker, culinary arts student from Hartwell, was also presented with the Student Chef of the Year award, marking the third consecutive year an NGTC student has received this honor.

In addition, NGTC culinary arts students Rucker, Ramon Fuentes of Alto, Victor Sharpe of Mount Airy, and Christina Smith of Mount Airy, assisted with preparing a four-course meal for the event alongside Ansley Golf Club Executive Chef Shannon Farmer and Chef Christopher Bladowski. Christopher Bladowski currently serves as first vice president of the ACF-ACA chapter, while Alexander Bladowski serves as treasurer.

Christy Bivins, NGTC dean of academic affairs, stated “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements at the Atlanta Chefs Association’s Presidential Gala. Christopher and Alexander Bladowski’s receipt of the Presidential Award is a testament to their dedication and leadership. Additionally, Diane Rucker’s recognition as Student of the Year highlights her hard work and exceptional commitment to her future career. Christopher and Alexander’s roles in the ACF demonstrate our students’ significant impact on the culinary community, and their volunteer efforts and passion for the profession exemplify the values NGTC strives to instill in our students.”

Alexander Bladowski stated, “This was an amazing night. Both Chris and I were completely blindsided by the great honor of receiving the Presidential Award. Diane Rucker worked several events with the chapter over the last few years, and I am over the moon that she was recognized for her academic achievements and community outreach. NGTC was well represented during the awards ceremony and well received by the staff of Ansley Golf Club. Our students and graduates are gaining an excellent reputation among the chefs and employers in North Georgia. We receive specific requests for our students from top restaurants in Atlanta.”
