New Day Pastor Thanks Community For Support

The pastor at the New Day Worship Center is thanking the community for its support after a weekend fire destroyed its church building.

The Rev. Anthony Coley says he wants to thank the fire departments and other first responders that helped fight the fire at the church near the Stephens County Jail on Sunday night.

He also says he wants to thank the Very Rev. Mary Demmler and St. Matthias Episcopal Church, who have offered New Day Worship Center the use of their facilities to worship until they can rebuild their church and also have invited New Day to worship with them as well.

The Rev. Coley says he and the church appreciate all of that support.

Sunday’s fire completely destroyed the New Day Worship Center.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, Shiloh, Carnes Creek, and Toccoa Fire Departments all responded to the blaze just before 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Meanwhile, authorities say that they are still investigating to try and figure out exactly what caused the fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says it is not considered suspicious.
