Mrs. Sarah Frances Craig Carter

Mrs. Sarah Frances Craig Carter, age 91 of Persimmon Street, Toccoa passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at her residence.

A daughter of the late Roy and Winnie Bell Pilgrim Craig, she was born April 6, 1933 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County.  She retired from Southern Pine Craftsman with several years of service and later worked for a number of years at Jean’s Crossing Restaurant.  She was a member of Collins Road Baptist Church and attended Rock Quarry Congregational Holiness Church.  She loved working in her yard, loved her family and cooking for them and loved the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carter, grandson, Justin Carter, great-granddaughter, Kate Stephens, daughter-in-law, Ann Carter, and sisters, Doris Weaver, Agnes Stamey and Anna Ramsey.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Stephens of Toccoa; son, Danny Carter of Toccoa; grandchildren, Stacey and Todd Proctor, William and Wendy Stephens, Deidra Carter, Danielle and Kaci Mize and Jon and Ori Carter; great-grandchildren, Jake Stephens and his fiancé`, Leah Ginn, McKenzie and Sean Viola, Blake Carter, Addie Carter, Dallas Carter, Emmit Carter, Landry Carter and Elliott Carter; brothers, Roy Craig, Jr. and Talmadge Craig both of Toccoa and William Craig of Cornelia; sisters, Billie Cheek and Patsy Wilbanks both of Toccoa; several nieces and nephews that she cherished very much.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 19, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend John Umberhant and The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Todd Proctor, William Stephens, Jake Stephens, Sean Viola, Blake Carter, Jon Carter, Aden Watson.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
