Mountain Ed Center Thanks Community Supporters

Mountain Education Charter High School takes time to thank the community.

The charter high school in Toccoa held a community support reception at the school last week.

Cindy Matthews is a graduation coach and teacher at the school.

She said they just wanted to show those who have supported the school over the past year their appreciation.

“Without business support, we could not be as whole as we are,” said Matthews. “We had a lot of community support this past year through scholarships. We awarded about $6,800 in scholarships through community support. Also, we have several different activities throughout the year, speakers, that are available through the community. We just wanted to thank them.”

Mountain Education Charter High School’s Toccoa location serves individuals in Franklin and Stephens counties.

It is for people ages 15 to 21 and is open at night, four nights a week, Monday through Thursday.

Matthews said there are about 70 students at Mountain Ed’s Toccoa location each night and about 150 on the rolls in all.
