Morse Gets Contract Extension

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse receives a contract extension.

Monday, Toccoa City Commissioners voted unanimously to extend Morse’s employment agreement with the city for another two years through October 1, 2017.

Mayor Terry Carter said that he and the commission appreciate the fine work that Morse has done since returning to the city manager’s post in 2013.

“Billy has done an exceptional job and been able to restore the stability that we had not had in that position in a while,,” said Carter. “He is doing an excellent job.”

Morse returned to the Toccoa City Manager’s position in October 2013, marking his second time in the city manager’s chair.

He also served as Toccoa City Manager for more than seven years before leaving in October 2009 and spending nearly four years as Franklin County Manager.

City officials said that the terms of Morse’s employment agreement will remain the same, but agree that as an addendum, all of Morse’s prior service with the city of Toccoa will be included when calculating vacation and leave accrual.

Morse said he is thankful for the commission’s support.

“I am very appreciative of their support and confidence,” said Morse. “We have had a good two year run since I have been here and am looking forward to two more years. I think we have some good things going on and I want to make sure we continue that.”

Currently, Morse says he makes $124,800 as a yearly salary.
