MLK Schedule Announced

Local governments are announcing their schedules for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Stephens County government offices and Toccoa City Hall will both be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In the city of Toccoa, routes for garbage and recyclables scheduled to be picked up on Monday, January 18th will be picked up on Tuesday, January 19th.

Commercial garbage will be picked up as usual, but yard waste and other items will not be picked up.

Also, the Links Golf Course will operate as usual. The normal operating hours are 8:00 a.m. until sunset.

Meanwhile, activities will continue this weekend for the 25th anniversary celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Stephens County.

Senior Reflections will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Hurricane Grove Baptist Church.

Then on Sunday at 5 p.m., the musical extravaganza will take place at Friendship Baptist Church.

On Monday, the interfaith service will take place at 12 p.m. at Trinity C.M.E. Church.

Following the service at 2 p.m. Monday, the annual march will leave Trinity C.M.E. Church and make its way to Toccoa City Hall.
