Middle School Basketball Conference Tournaments Underway

The Stephens County Middle School girls’ basketball teams will both play for championships next week.

Thursday, the 7th grade Lady Rebels beat Madison County, 27-20, in Elberton.

Manisha Colbert led the scoring with 10 points and Ikira Patterson had nine points. Grace Witherspoon had four points, Kayla Smith scored three points, and Erin Terrell scored one point.

Meanwhile, the 8th grade Lady Rebels beat Hart, 47-19, to move into the championship.

Ranajah Verdell had nine points to lead the 8th grade girls, while Kiki Howard had seven. Brooklyn Steeple, Tynajiah Eades, Breanna Taylor, Savannah Broska, and Lindsay Moore all scored five points, while Keke Rucker had four points and Samara Walker scored two points.

The championship games for the girls’ teams are Monday in Elberton at 4:30 and 5:45 p.m.

A big first quarter helps Madison County eliminate the Stephens County 7th grade boys’ basketball team from its Middle School conference tournament.

Madison County outscored the 7th grade Rebel boys 21-2 in the first quarter on the way to a 51-20 win over Stephens County on Wednesday night in the first round of the NEGIAA tournament in Elberton.

Zatorian Lacy led the Rebel scorers with 11 points. Isaiah Harris and Matt Moore had three points each, while Bryson Trimier had two points and Kumali Perry added one point.
