Manufacturing Video Contest Award Winners Announced

Area students win awards for videos about local manufacturers.

Recently, North Georgia Technical College held a video contest where students created a 2-3 minute video in partnership with a local industry in their county to show people “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?”

Students at Stephens County High School were paired up with Global Partitions.

Their video, which was approved by Global, showcased the products, organizations, and “cool” factor of manufacturing, blending interviews with action shots of the production.

They competed against students and companies in White, Habersham, Union, and Franklin counties.

Awards were announced last month at North Georgia Tech’s Industrial Summit.

Stephens County High School’s video of Global Partitions won the Outstanding “Cool” Award.

Meanwhile, Franklin County’s video of Ross Controls received the most votes from people who viewed the videos prior to the awards to win the Viewer’s Choice Award.

Habersham Central High School also won the award for Outstanding Editing for its video of Tencate.

North Georgia Technical College Vice President for Economic Development Dr. Mark Ivester said they wanted to see manufacturing through the eyes of the region’s future, its students, and calls the entire contest “exciting.”
