Local Grower’s Market Open Today

The weekly Stephens County Grower’s Market takes place today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The market, which moved from its location at 325 N. Broad Street in Toccoa earlier this year, is now located adjacent to the Eastanollee Cannery, 582 Eastanollee School Road.

According to Cannery manager Richard Johnson, garden season is in full swing, and a wide selection of local produce, honey and other items from local growers are expected to be available. Local farmers with local fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, plants, eggs or honey to sell are invited to come to the Cannery and fill out an application to be able to sell at the Grower’s Market. There is no vendor fee.

The Cannery is also holding canning classes today, and canning facilities are available for citizens weekly, with fruit and vegetable canning on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and meat canning on Wednesday.

For more information, contact the Eastanollee Cannery at (706) 779-2218 or visit the Cannery Facebook page.
