Little League Update

Two Toccoa teams fall in elimination bracket games in District 7 Little League play in northeast Georgia.

First, the Toccoa 10-11 baseball All-Stars were knocked out of the District tournament after an 8-1 loss to Franklin in Lavonia on Monday.

Miles Dodd pitched a complete game on just 69 pitches and allowed only a single run to Toccoa in picking up the win for Franklin.

Franklin jumped out early with two runs in the top of the first inning, then added two more runs in fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead.

Toccoa cut it to 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Landon Kimsey reached base and came around to score.

However, Franklin added four more runs in the top of the sixth to pull away for the final 8-1 margin of victory.

Franklin will play Hart tonight at 7 p.m. in the 10-11 championship round in Lavonia. Hart must win once, while Franklin would have to win twice to win the district title.

Meanwhile, Toccoa’s 9-10 softball All-Stars also lost to Franklin Monday in Danielsville by a 7-4 score.

That loss eliminates Toccoa from the 9-10 softball tournament, while Franklin will play Habersham tonight at 7 p.m. in an elimination game.

One Toccoa team remains alive.

That is the 9-10 baseball All-Stars, who beat Madison in extra innings Monday in Lavonia, 9-8.

Toccoa jumped out early in that game, before Madison came back and tied it at 8, leading to extra innings and Toccoa’s win.

The Toccoa 9-10 baseball All-Stars will be back in action tonight at 8:30 p.m. in Lavonia against Hart in an elimination game.
