Kelli Loraine Scott Welch

Kelli Loraine Scott Welch passed away September 5, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Kelli was born May 31, 1979 in Lee County, Alabama to Harold Scott and Illa Ames Moore. Kelli lived most all of her childhood in Toccoa, Georgia. She graduated from Stephens County High School in 1997; where she played every sport available year-round. She played basketball under Coach Jerry Brown where she was a thousand-point scorer. She went on to Anderson University on a basketball scholarship where she played four years and graduated in 2001. Kelli was a coach and P.E. teacher at Rabun County Schools and Stephens County Schools. Kelli loved each and every child that walked through her gym doors and treated them as if they were her own. She was well-loved by her students and coworkers. In her 20 years as an educator, she touched thousands of lives and was an inspiration to many.

Kelli fell in love with Jesus at a very young age and followed Him all the days of her life. Kelli loved spending time with family. The light of her life was to watch her children grow and excel in their extracurricular activities. She loved being a “KK” to her grandson, Reed. She enjoyed going to Edisto Island and Disney. Kelli was a devoted Auburn fan.

Kelli is survived by her husband, Jonathan Welch; parents, Harold Allen Scott and Illa Loraine Ames Moore; children, Cooper Welch, Chesney Henson (Hunter) and Capi Welch; brother, Casey Scott; stepsiblings, Alexandra Moore and Benjamin Moore; and grandchild, Reed Henson. She is also survived by her grandparents and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1:00pm-3:00pm Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Fine Arts Building at Rabun County High School with a memorial service following in the Fine Arts Building at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rabun County High School Athletics to help students in need of financial assistance. Donations can be mailed to 230 Wildcat Hill Dr, Tiger, GA 30576. The family also asks that donations be made to the Kelli Welch Memorial Fund. Donations can be made in person at Rabun County Bank.
