Indians Fall to Hart In Final Football Scrimmage

Next up for the Stephens County High School football team is the regular season.

The Indians lost their second pre-season scrimmage game Friday night at the Reservation to Hart County by a score of 22-15.

Hart County started the scoring when P.J. Rucker sacked Indian quarterback Jackson Bell in the end zone about five minutes into the game for a safety, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 9-0 less than two minutes later when quarterback O’Neal Anderson scored on a two-yard touchdown run.

It stayed that way until there were less than four minutes to go in the second quarter when the Indians got on the board on a 6-yard touchdown run from Hassan Brown to make it 9-7 heading into halftime.

Hart County pulled away in the third quarter, scoring two touchdowns to make it to 22-7.

First, Dre’ Sadler recovered an Indian fumbled and returned it for the first Bulldog score. Then, Anderson found Zach Maldonado for a 9-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the quarter for Hart’s second touchdown.

The Indians cut the lead to seven early in the fourth quarter when Ken Major scored on a 16-yard touchdown run and A.J. Curry hit Daniel Brock for the two-point conversion pass.

However, the Indians could not get the tying score late after driving into Hart territory.

With the scrimmages complete, the Indians will start the regular season at home next Friday night against Franklin County at the Reservation.

Meanwhile, Hart County plays Clarke Central in its season opener next week.
