Illinois Fugitive Arrested in Toccoa

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office assists in the arrest of an out-of-state fugitive in Toccoa.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said his office’s DELTA unit was called to assist U.S. Marshals in the arrest of 29-year-old Richard W. Taylor of Trenton, Illinois last week.

Shirley said authorities caught up with Taylor at an Avon Street residence in Toccoa to arrest him in a connection to an incident recently back in Illinois.

“He was arrested for a home invasion and aggravated battery at a Trenton, Illinois home,” said Shirley. “They found out his grandmother lived in Stephens County. Once they went to the residence, he was arrested without incident.”

Shirley said Taylor was sent back to Illinois, where his bond was set at $200,000.
