GSP Recruiting Troopers Statewide

The Georgia State Patrol is undertaking a hiring effort to increase its numbers over the coming years.

According to GSP Senior Trooper David Snyder, Georgia Department of Public Safety Commissioner Colonel Mark McDonough wants to increase significantly the number of troopers on the roadways over the next three years across Georgia.

“It is hiring that is going to take place over the next three years of about 300 troopers,” said Snyder. “It has been a goal of the Colonel’s to get to that 1,000 mark for the whole state.”

One of the things that someone will have to do to become a Georgia State Patrol trooper is pass the physical fitness test.

Snyder said that an opportunity to take that test is coming up in northeast Georgia later this month.

“If you live in northeast Georgia and are interested in becoming a state trooper, one of the things you have to do is pass the physical fitness standard,” said Snyder. “That test will be given November 29. It will be at North Hall Recreation Park in Hall County. It will be at 10 a.m. on November 29.”
