David Byargeon Band set to headline this weekend’s Ida Cox Concert Series

The 2024 season of the Ida Cox Music Series continues this weekend with a local act as the David Byargeon Band brings classic rock to the Ida Cox stage.

Byargeon, often seen at school sporting events behind the lens of a camera, is a local photographer who also is an accomplished musician and songwriter whose recent songs, Toccoa in the Seventies, and Currahee, feature local landmarks and memories.

The Ida Cox Music Series, named after famed Toccoa Blues musician Ida Cox, features free music during the summer, from 7 p.m. until approximately 10 p.m. each Saturday night in downtown Toccoa.

Bring a lawn chair or other seating option and enjoy live music, food, and drink in a relaxing atmosphere. Coolers are welcome, but alcohol purchased outside the downtown entertainment district is not allowed.

Upcoming July acts for the 2024 Ida Cox season include country music with Dirt Road Revival on July 6, Bluegrass with the Grassland String Band on July 13, Motown with the Original Splitz Band on July 20, and Southern rock with Smokey Jones & the Three Dollar Pistols on July 27.

In August, artists include more classic rock with Split Shot on August 3, a flashback to the 80s with Atlanta Vice on August 10, Indie Americana with Jake & The Journeymen on August 17, series favorites Vintage Vixens will return on August 24th, and holding with tradition, local Jazz standout Milkshake Mayfield will close out the season on August 31.
