Cold Air Remains In NE Ga.

Stephens County and northeast Georgia are waking up to bitter cold and wind this morning.

A wind chill advisory remains in effect for the region until 1 p.m. today.

According to forecasters with the National Weather Service, temperatures in the teens and 20s later today will combine with northwest winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour and gusts up to 25 miles per hour to produce wind chill values as low as 3 below zero today.

Andrew Kimball is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office at Greenville-Spartanburg.

He says the arctic air mass is not expected to move out before the weekend.

Kimball goes on to say that the extended forecast shows the possibility of more wintry weather as the week wraps up and we move into the weekend.

Right now, the chance of wintry precipitation Friday night and Saturday is only about 40 to 50 percent.
