A committee looking at high-speed broadband internet in the state of Georgia will meet in Toccoa next week.

The Joint High-Speed Broadband Communications Access for all Georgians Study Committee is scheduled to hold its second meeting on Thursday, September 15 at 1 p.m. at the North Georgia Technical College Currahee Campus in Toccoa.

Among the members of this committee is 50th District State Senator John Wilkinson.

Georgia’s state legislature created the Joint High-Speed Broadband Communications Access for All Georgians Study Committee with the passage of Senate Resolution 876 in the last legislative session.

It is tasked with examining the conditions, needs, issues and problems of high-speed broadband internet access in Georgia.

The joint study committee is responsible for submitting a report of findings and recommendations, including proposed legislation, by December 1, 2016.
