August Unemployment Numbers Released for Stephens Co.

August unemployment numbers are out for Stephens County.

According to those figures from the Georgia Department of Labor, Stephens County had a preliminary unemployment rate in August of 7.7 percent.

That is down two-tenths of a percentage point from the revised rates for both July and August 2013, which were both at 7.9 percent.

Stephens County’s August labor force totaled 12,909, which is down from 13,157 in July, but is slightly higher than the August 2013 labor force of 12,844.

Meanwhile, Stephens County had 11,917 employed in August. That is down from 12,117 in July, but slightly up from 11,827 last August.

Looking elsewhere around the area, Franklin County’s preliminary August unemployment rate dropped eight-tenths of a percentage point to 8.9 percent, Habersham County saw its preliminary unemployment rate drop two-tenths of a percentage point in August to 7.4 percent, and Banks County’s preliminary August unemployment rate dropped one-tenth of a percentage point to 6.5 percent.
