Animal Shelter Fundraiser Set For Saturday Night

A major fundraiser for the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter is coming up this weekend.

It is the annual “Jailhouse Rock” dinner and auction and it takes place this coming Saturday at the Toccoa Elks Lodge.

Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Director Jeff Roberts said everything starts at 6 p.m.

“At 6 p.m., you can start looking at some of the auction items, live and silent,” said Roberts. “Some of the items include a condo stay near Myrtle Beach and a couple of pieces of custom furniture.”

Dinner will then be served at 7 p.m.

All of the money raised will benefit the animal shelter.

Roberts said it is an important event for the shelter from a fundraising perspective.

“This money will help us do more for the animals,” said Roberts. “It will enable us to provide some of the extra things we have, whether it be extra medical care for injured animals or an animal that needs further care than what we normally provide. It can also provide some of the little things like treats and blankets and things like that … things that go beyond the basic (things).”

Reservations for Saturday’s “Jailhouse Rock” dinner and auction to benefit the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter are $35 per person.

They can be made by calling 706-282-3275, going to the animal shelter on Scenic Drive during its business hours Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or by purchasing a ticket at the door on Saturday.
