Wolverines Defend Home Court-Shutdown Indians
The Stephens County Indians basketball teams had a tough night on Thursday night in Bogart. Stymied by outstanding defense, both teams were blown away at Prince Avenue Christian.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Indians jumped out to an early 9-6 lead but was limited to just 5 points in the next quarter and a half and fell to the Lady Wolverines 59-35.
Prince Avenue Christian, now 2-5 in region-8 AA and 13-8 overall, had nine different players score in the game with Lilly Purcell leading the way with 18 points and Riley Reeder adding 16.
Fayeth Ivester led Stephens County with 9 points, Ivey Jackson scored 8 points and Aleah Curry added 7 for the Lady Indians, now 1-5 in the region and 3-18 overall.
In the boys’ game, the Wolverines limited the Indians to just 5 field goals in the first half to take a commanding 39-11 lead into halftime, and rolled to a 62-32 win.
Ten different players scored with Luke Addison leading the balanced attack with 10 points.
Prince Avenue Christian improves to 3-4 in region play and 16-6 overall.
CJ Harbin and Colsen Ivey scored 10 points each to lead Stephens County, now losers of 17 straight games at 1-19 overall and 0-6 in the region.
Both teams will be back in action tonight at Hebron Christian. Both Lions teams are undefeated in region play. Airtime on WNEG tonight is set for 6:45 P.M. with tipoff at 7.
