Woerner, Kinsey, Headed to NFL

Two football players that played high school football in this area of Northeast Georgia will now join the professional ranks with a shot in the NFL.

UGA tight end Charlie Woerner was drafted on Saturday in the 6th round by last year’s Super Bowl runner-up, the San Francisco 49ers.

Woerner was a do-everything standout on some of Rabun County’s best teams. Woerner was a leader on both sides of the ball and had almost 2700 yards receiving and 60 touchdowns before moving on to the Bulldogs. Woerner saw a lot of time on the field at UGA, used primarily as a blocker, but did have 34 receptions for 376 yards and a touchdown.

Berry College standout Mason Kinsey has signed a free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans. Kinsey played his high school football with the Habersham Central Raiders. Kinsey was a standout at Division III Berry College, and leads the program in most career receiving categories with 203 receptions for 3,343 yards and 50 touchdowns in 43 games.
