Voters Have Chance to Cast Early Ballot This Saturday

Voters in Toccoa-Stephens County will be able to cast an early ballot Saturday in the November Mid-term election if they have not already done so.

This Saturday is the one weekend day to advance vote for the November Election, according to Stephens County Registrar Bill Cochran.

“Saturday the Registrar office will be open for early voting from 9a to 4p; the same time as the Harvest Festival is going on,” he said. “So, it’s exciting and we want to encourage everybody to vote and we’re offering the chance to vote Saturday to help out the people who can’t get to us during the week.”

There are no local elections or referendums in Toccoa-Stephens County this term

Voters in Georgia are deciding on a new Governor, along with a host of State Offices and a number of referendums.

Sample ballots are available at the Registrar’s office or on the MyVoter page on Secretary of State’s Web site at sos.ga.gov.

Across the State, voters are already turning out in record numbers to cast their ballots.

According to a report in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution by the end of the first week of early voting, over 482-thousand Georgians had cast early ballots.

Cochran says there has been a record turnout in Stephens County so far, and he is expecting a big turnout Saturday as well.

“We’ve had extremely high turnout. We’re over 2,700 in person early voting and absentee ballots are approaching 600 being mailed out. Because of the Harvest Festival and the crowd that will be downtown, a lot of people will likely take advantage to vote that day as well. So, we do plan on a significant turnout.”

Again, Advance Voting will be available this Saturday at the Stephens County Registrar’s office from 9a to 4p.

Remember to bring a valid photo ID with you if you plan to vote Saturday.
