Verdell signs to play basketball with University of West Georgia

Stephens County Lady Indian Ranajah Verdell will be taking her basketball talents to University of West Georgia in Carrollton next year.

Ranajah held a signing ceremony at the high school last week.

The 5’11” forward averaged 16.5 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Lady Indians.

As one of 7 seniors that led Stephens County to the Region 8-AAA title and a berth in the state quarterfinals, Ranajah was named the Region Co-Player of the Year and to the 2nd team All-State.

She also achieved her 1000th career point this past season.

Ranajah says she is thankful for the support of her coaches and teachers.

Ranajah is the daughter of Shaconda and Wayne Verdell.

She plans on majoring in biology at West Georgia and eventually becoming an orthodontist.
