Update on SCHS Varsity Volleyball

By Sage Sutulovich, Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach at Stephens County High School (SCHS)

The Stephens County High School (SCHS) Varsity Volleyball Team started Region Play versus Lumpkin County on Tuesday, September 1, in a best-of-three sets match, and lost 1-2. The SCHS defense and blockers played phenomenally, according to coaches. Specifically, La’nyia Johnson, Lauren Schell, and Ja’vaeh Brown were a huge presence at the net.

On Thursday, September 3, SCHS played two games.

In the first game against Pickens, SCHS lost 0-2. Lauren Schell had 7 blocks and La’nyia Johnson added 4 blocks.

Game two was against CASS. SCHS won in two sets. Jasmine Russell was a huge part of that win. She stayed at the serving line for 15 points, during which she also got six aces. Another piece was Lauren Schell, who had six kills and five blocks.

The SCHS Varsity and JV Volleyball Teams travel to East Jackson on Tuesday, September 8, for their next games.
