Tuesday Last Day for Low Income Families to Sign Up for Home Heating Help

The Ninth District Office in Stephens County has not used up all of the federal monies allotted for this year’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program.

Community Resource Coordinator Paula Dooley tells WNEG they need more people to apply for help in paying their home heating bills.

Dooley said Tuesday is the last day people can sign up for the program and she will see people at the Ninth District Opportunity office all day tomorrow.

“We still have the originally money that we had, $525,000. We still need about 300 people to come sign up for the energy assistance program if they have not done so since November, 2018,” Dooley said.

To get in on the $350 credit toward your energy bill, you just need to show up Tuesday to the Ninth District Opportunity office on Queen Street in Toccoa between 9a and 4p.

“Tuesday is the last day to sign up in person,” she said. “I have to work in other counties so Tuesday is the last day I’ll be able to see people in Stephens County.”

You must bring with you a picture ID, social security cards for everyone, household income for the last 30 days, your electric bill and gas bill if you have one.
