Traffic Safety: Beat the Heat

Extreme temperatures don’t just affect people; they can take a toll on your vehicle, too. During hot weather, air conditioners are more likely to fail, especially if they haven’t been serviced. A broken A/C can quickly turn a routine drive into a dangerous situation, particularly for children, older adults, and pets.
Before heading out:
-Make sure your air conditioner is working properly.
-Check your battery, coolant, and fluid levels.
-Keep your gas tank at least half full.
-Bring plenty of drinking water for everyone in the vehicle.
-Keep a charged phone and emergency supplies with you.
If your vehicle breaks down in the heat, move to a safe location, if possible, call for assistance, and stay hydrated while you wait.
A few minutes of preparation can help keep you safe all summer long.
