TPD To Hold Informational Meeting on Homelessness – Public Invited
As reported last week by WNEG News, Toccoa Chief of Police Bruce Carlisle has made addressing the issue of homelessness in the city a priority for the Department.
Carlisle told WNEG News that he had already initiated a new task force to address that problem, and was working with Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish to implement some of the policies and approaches that have been successful there.
Earlier this week, Carlisle advised WNEG News that Parrish will be attending a meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27 to speak with law enforcement officials and members of the taskforce, and he wanted to invite interested members from the community to attend the meeting
He said the presentation, which would last about an hour, can be viewed as the beginning of the city’s efforts to address homelessness in Toccoa in a humane way.
He said there has been positive progress on his efforts to create a local homelessness taskforce.
He added that relationships and partnerships with other agencies throughout the state plays a large role in improving law enforcement efforts locally.
He also stressed how important communication with local citizens is, and talked about new weekly interviews with WNEG that will air each week on Wednesday.
In the coming weeks, WNEG News will provide more details about the meeting, which will take place at Reflections.
