TPD looking for Toccoa man responsible for recent armed robbery

Police are investigating a recent armed robbery in Toccoa.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, the incident occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday, at the American Eagle Store located on Big A Road.

Mize said his officers were dispatched to the store in reference to an unknown issue due to a language barrier; however, upon arrival, officers were able to determine that the store had been robbed at gunpoint.

Video surveillance revealed a white male subject pointing a black handgun over the counter at the clerk and counting to five for him to hand over the money bag.

The subject took the bag and ran out around the back of the store.

Officers secured the scene and surrounding area and waited for detectives to arrive.

Mize said detectives later identified the suspect in the video as Brandon William Vinson, 26, of Toccoa.

A total of $2,800 was taken from the store.

Warrants have been issued against Vinson for armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Mize advises that Vinson is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Detective David Cannon at 706-282-3277.
