Toccoa woman charged with DUI, after tag violation

A Toccoa woman was arrested after being stopped for a tag violation.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, officers with the Toccoa Police Department were on patrol, in the area of West Currahee Street and Broad Street, when they observed a vehicle with a tag violation.

Officers then performed a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Mize said, that the officer was speaking with the driver, identified as Tabitha Peeples, 22, of Toccoa, when they noticed Peeples was displaying typical actions of someone using drugs.

According to Mize, officers asked Peeples to do a field sobriety test and for her consent to check her vehicle—she agreed to both.

She was subsequently arrested, and charged with DUI, and taken to the Stephens County Hospital for a blood test, Mize said.

During the search of the vehicle, officers recovered, under the driver’s passenger seat, a quantity of drugs and drug related objects.

Mize added that Peeples was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, DUI, possession of drug related objects, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a schedule V controlled substance.
