Toccoa Sweeps Hart to Claim District 7 Title

The Toccoa 11-12 Little League Softball team swept the best of three series with Hart County two games to none with a win Sunday afternoon 11-1 in Hartwell.

Toccoa took an early 4-1 lead after three innings and added three runs in the 5th inning and 4 in the 6th to roll to the victory.

Averi Kell was again outstanding in the circle allowing just one run on five hits, striking out 10 and just walking two. Kell also had three RBIs to lead Toccoa at the plate, Emma Mata also had a RBI with two doubles and reached base in all four at bats. Toccoa also got a RBI from Karlie Brady.

On Saturday at Doyle Street Park, Toccoa defeated the Hart 22-4.

Toccoa scored five runs in the second inning, six runs in the third, and seven in the fourth inning. Kell was the winning pitcher, scattering seven hits and striking out three. Kell also drove in two runs with a single in the fourth inning.

In other tournament action. Hart County defeated Franklin County in the 8-9-10 bracket two games to none.

Toccoa will now advance to state play at Warner-Robins beginning July 9th.
