Toccoa Police Chief promotes several local officers as part of new Leadership/Management team

Several Toccoa Police Officers were promoted on Tuesday.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize organized a ceremony where he announced the creation of a Leadership/Management Team.

Mize says the team will meet regularly to discuss plans and strategies to address operational issues and community concerns.

Mize says the new team will include the Heads of the Detective Division and the Patrol Division.

Lieutenant Eddie Neal currently serves as the Head of the Detective Division, and Lieutenant Charlie Littleton currently serves as the Head of the Patrol Division, both were promoted to Captain.

In addition to the Captain’s promotion, Mize promoted Sergeant David Sims to Lieutenant over the Patrol Division.

Mize then brought up Corporal Tim Morgan, Corporal Mitchell Pharris, and Detective Corporal Denver Gunn and they were each promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Morgan will lead over C-Shift and Pharris will lead over A-Shift. Gunn will lead over the Detectives Division.

Mize also announced a new program with the detectives.

“With these promotions I would like to announce a new program with the Detectives as a ‘Uniform Detective,’ Corporal Kristi Mcknight will be transferring from the Road Patrol to the Detective Division. We hope to extend this Division in the near future,” he said.

Additionally, Mize announced that three other officers will now be Officers-In-Charge for their respective shifts and divisions.

Lastly, Mize says these achievements were well deserved.

“These guys have been dedicated to the police department and the community. I think they will continue their dedication and will continue doing a good job for us all,” he said.
