Toccoa man arrested outside of Toccoa Bowling Center

A Toccoa man was arrested on Saturday, May 27, after law enforcement responded to an accident on Rose Lane.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, an officer with his office responded to an accident that had occurred at the Toccoa Bowling Center off of Rose Lane.

Once on scene the Toccoa Police Officer met with a Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, the deputy had found what looked like marijuana and pills in a clear plastic bag.

The deputy told the officer that she had witnessed the driver, identified as 32-year-old Steven Head, of Toccoa, throw something out of his window.

Head was then placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, pills and DUI.

Consent was given to the officers to search the vehicle; during this search, two firearms were located in the back seat.

Head advised the officers that the guns did not belong to him, he stated three other men were in the vehicle and had run off once law enforcement arrived.

Head was transported to the Stephens County Hospital for a blood test, once that was completed, he was transported to the Stephens County Jail where he was turned over to jail staff.
