Toccoa man arrested for shoplifting in Clayton

A Toccoa man faces three charges after a shoplifting incident at the Walmart in Clayton.

On Dec. 31, 2019, deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Walmart on Highway 441 South in Clayton in reference to a report of a theft by shoplifting in progress.

The store’s loss prevention officer identified the suspect to deputies, and they made contact with the individual identified as 36-year-old Jesse Eric Dill of Toccoa.

He admitted to deputies that he was using magnets to open video game cases that were enclosed in magnetized security boxes and stealing $249 worth of merchandise.

Those items were returned to Walmart.

Dill was arrested for theft by shoplifting, possession of a schedule II controlled-substance, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the three charges.
