Toccoa man arrested for possession of a controlled substance

A Toccoa man was arrested after officers with the Toccoa Police Department found him in possession of a controlled substance.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on March 25, a Toccoa Police Department two-man unit observed a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed on West Whitman Street.

While conducting a turn around and coming upon the truck, it had stopped in a business parking lot and the driver was outside with the hood up.

Mize says one of the officers observed a white pill in plain sight on the dash of the vehicle, later identified as Hydrocodone.

The driver, identified as Jonathan Ragsdale, admitted to officers that he had a firearm in the dash and was a convicted felon.

Jonathan Frank Ragsdale, 38, of Toccoa was charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail without incident.
