Toccoa man arrested following 6-months long investigation

After six months, an investigation yields large amounts of marijuana, trafficking amounts of methamphetamine, heroin and firearms.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on Friday, September 17, law enforcement officers were located at 1520 Defoor Road, in Toccoa, for the purpose of executing a Fourth Amendment Waiver search on 26-year-old Shaun Mayfield, a known Gangster Disciple Criminal Street Gang Member.

Mize says Mayfield was arrested and charged with theft by receiving a stolen motorcycle, three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, possession with intent to distribute butane hash oil, felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

According to Mize, Mayfield had been under investigation for six months and was on active probation.

Mayfield was found to be in possession of over $65,000 worth of drugs, including 4,114 grams of marijuana—street value of $41,140; 230 grams of methamphetamine—street value of $23,000; 11 grams of heroin—street value of $1,650; 46 grams of butane hash oil—street value of $575; 50 ecstasy pills—street value of $1,000; and 3.1 grams of cocaine—street value of $387.50.

An AR-15 Style rifle, a semiautomatic pistol, and a revolver were also seized.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Toccoa Police Department, Department of Community Supervision, Federal Burau of Investigation, and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office participated in the investigation.

Mize says the investigation is still active and ongoing.
