Toccoa man arrested after trying to enter 2 parked cars

A Toccoa man is behind bars after a woman caught him attempting to enter parked cars.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on Monday, an officer was dispatched to 437 S. Pond Street in reference to an attempted entering auto.

Mize says a woman reported an unknown male walking through the parking lot and attempting to enter 2 parked cars. One of the car alarms went off and the male ran off behind some other apartments.

After obtaining a description of the male and looking at video of the parking lot, the officer rode the area to attempt to locate the subject.

Mize says that within 30 minutes, the officer observed a subject matching the description.

He was identified as Nicolas Grantes, 27, of Toccoa.

Grantes was transported back to the Housing Authority where a positive identification was made.

Grantes was charged with criminal trespass and taken to the Stephens County Jail without further incident.
