Toccoa man arrested after being caught with drugs

A Toccoa man has been arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on September 27, deputies and investigators with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Tabitha Page Lane in Toccoa.

Shirley says the search warrant was the result of an investigation, which began after information was received regarding the homeowner selling methamphetamine from his residence.

After using a multitude of investigative approaches, investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.

During the search of the residence, Shirley says investigators located a quantity of methamphetamine along with scales and packaging material.

The homeowner is identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Michael Burrell.

Burrell was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail where he posted a $30,000 property bond and was released on September 30.
