Toccoa Little League Takes 10U Title

 

The Toccoa Little League All-Stars won the District 7 title on Tuesday night defeating Franklin County 7-4 in Lavonia.

Franklin County led 3-0 after the 1st inning but Toccoa’s Noah Ward led off the 2nd inning with a double and scored on Brogann Adams RBI groundout to cut the score to 3-1. Toccoa cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the 3rd inning when Branson Crumley reached base and scored, but Franklin County added a run in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-2.

Toccoa’s big inning came in the top of the 4th. Ward led the inning off with a single and scored on an Adams RBI single to cut the lead to 4-3. Issac Helgeland was hit by a pitch and he and Adams moved up a base on a wild pitch. Both runners would score on Douglas McCracken’s two-out RBI single and Toccoa had their first lead at 5-4. McCracken later scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-4.

Toccoa added one more insurance run in the 5th inning when Gauge Adams singled and scored on another Brogann Adams RBI single.

Toccoa’s Bentlee Crunkleton was outstanding on the mound pitching 5 innings and allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and striking out seven. Ward picked up the save with a scoreless 6th inning.

Toccoa will now advance to the state tournament hosted by the West Point Little League and will face the champion from District 6 on July 9th at 2:30 P.M.

Franklin County also clinched the 11U tournament on Tuesday night in Lavonia.
