Toccoa Little League hosting 3rd Annual Homerun Derby Fundraiser

The Toccoa Little League will host its 3rd Annual Homerun Derby fundraiser on Friday, August 7, says Chris Ivey, Vice President of Baseball for the Toccoa Little League.

“We’ve been running it as a fundraiser for the all-star teams, and so it’s always been fun to make sure that all the kids are involved. So, this year the reason why we are doing it in August is because during the summer we had so many teams playing and they were stretched thin, and so, we kept kicking it down the road, and we said, well, we’ll just do it in August, and then we’ll use it as a way to kickoff our fall league for registration as well.”

Ivey tells how to register.

“You can sign up online (Toccoa Little League), there’s the QR code, but you can also just show up and sign up. The registration starts at 5 o’clock on Friday.”

Ages 5 and up can compete, concludes Ivey.

“So, the homerun derby really is for all ages, men and women. Guys will hit baseballs, women will hit softballs. The younger kids hit first, and then as the evening progresses, so do the ages, and by the end of the night, is when you see the older crowd, and the dads hit. And that’s the funnest thing for the kids to laugh at the dads out there trying to relive the glory days.”

The Toccoa Little League’s 3rd Annual Homerun Derby is Friday, August 7, at 5 p.m., at Doyle Street Park. This is a fun, family-friendly event.
